About the wood: Black walnut is often used in live edge epoxy tables due to its dark features that go well with a number of epoxy colors.  Often paired with blue, green or black, walnut is highly desired by live edge table craftsmen. Walnut is a slow growing tree therefore large slab cuts are very rare.  Due to demand and very limited supply, large old growth slabs can be on the pricy side.
