Soft Maple – S1006

An old growth silver maple live edge slab with interesting grain. This slab features a large white sapwood with light reds and browns in the heartwood.  These can make anything from long and wide bar-tops to extremely wide book-match live edge tables or conference tables.

About the wood: Silver maple falls under the umbrella of “soft maples.” Not to be mistaken by softwoods like pine or spruce, silver maples are perfectly fine to use for furniture and are much harder and durable than softwood.  Silver maples are characterized by a white to light golden to reddish brown sapwood and a darker reddish brown heartwood. Silver maple is easy to work with and great for live edge furniture.
